Frequently
Asked Questions
Do I have to be artistic?
Certainly not – For those of us who are artistically challenged or just
lacking in confidence, we have a selection of sponges in addition to the usual
brushes to help you make even the simplest of designs look fantastic. If
you make a mistake, the paints can be removed easily without spoiling your creation.
How long does it take?
Really depends on what you decide to paint – for one item,
such as a mug, it can take around an hour – although you’ll
be amazed at how time flies.
Is it just for kids?
Definitely not – anyone from babies (hand and foot prints)
to grandparents enjoy painting our pottery. We’ve even
had the odd dog joining in with a paw-print!
What do I do?
We will give you a demonstration when you come in to the studio and
our friendly staff are always on hand should you need any advice. The
hardest thing of all is choosing which piece to paint and the colours
to use!
- choose a piece of pottery (bisque) from our wide selection
- decide on your design and the under-glaze (paint) colours you
want to use
- Paint away and have fun!
- leave your finished items with us to do the rest, ready for collection/or
posting in around 4 – 5 days.
what does it cost?
We have a studio fee of £3 per person – this is a
one-off daily charge that covers the cost of all paints, glazes and
firing – whether you paint one piece or ten pieces.
The items of bisque range from £3 to £65.
Any hidden dangers?
None - should you have a momentary lapse of concentration – don’t
worry, all of our paints and glazes are non-toxic and
food-safe. They also wash out of clothes, and hair!
Home use?
When ready for collection your finished masterpiece is food safe – although
we don’t recommend putting them in a microwave or dishwasher – this
may reduce their working life.
Always something new.
We update our range often so there’s always something different
for you to paint. If you want something special and we don’t
have it already in stock, let us know and we will do our best to
get it for you. |
